The Jim Pattison Broadcast Group, Canada’s largest private western-based broadcaster, is pleased to announce that effective January 8, 2013 all three of its television stations are now airing in High Definition on Shaw Cable in Kamloops, and Prince George, B.C., along with Medicine Hat, Alberta.
Rick Arnish, Chairman of JPBG, said, “We’re extremely excited that all three stations, CFJC TV, CKPG TV & CHAT TV will be distributed on the Shaw HD tier at channel 213 in each market. This will bring to our viewers our award winning “local” programming as well as the “outstanding” City TV program schedule in HD to subscribers of Shaw Cable”. Arnish went onto say, “I appreciated the commitment from Michael Ferras, Vice president of Regulatory Affairs for Shaw Cable, as well as the Shaw technical team in Calgary, to work with Pattison to facilitate this major technological change in delivery of the stations programming in HD”.
Rod Schween, President of JPBG stated, “with the broadcast group committing $2.3M over the past year and a half to convert our stations from standard definition to high definition this conversion to the HD tier will allow our 3 television stations to compete on a “level” playing field with the major market stations carried by Shaw in HD”. Schween added, “not only is this a win-win for both companies, but fills a void for viewers and advertisers alike, who subscribe to Shaw HD”.
The Pattison television stations are also carried in HD on channel 692 on Telus Optik TV.
