Saskatchewan Donors Raise $750,000 in Children’s Hospital Radiothon

Broadcasters from across Saskatchewan, including the full team from the family of the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group, helped raise a substantial sum of money for the new state-of-the-art children’s facility in Saskatoon. According to a media release from the hospital’s foundation, donors from across the province helped raise $750,109 in just two short days at the first ever province-wide Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon presented by CIBC Wood Gundy. 2 Long-time Pattison Employees to be Inducted into Western Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame

Longtime Winnipeg radio personality Boyd Kozak and Bob Ridley, sports director at CHAT 94.5 FM Medicine Hat, have been announced as this year’s inductees into the Western Association of Broadcasters (WAB) Hall of Fame. Kozak retired last year as news director at QX104 (CFQX-FM) Winnipeg. His 59-year career right out of high school in 1959 at CFSL-AM Weyburn, SK, quickly moving on to CHAB Radio & TV in Moose Jaw, CFQC-AM Saskatoon and then CKRC-AM Winnipeg where he landed in 1963. He joined CFQX-FM in 1995 as news and community relations director. Boyd has been a DJ, a reporter, producer, talk show host, blogger and a news director.
